The SAWF’s Development Plan outlines its vision to develop Wushu into a widely accessible, professionally managed, socially responsible, dynamic and successful sport across all sectors in South Africa. Specifically, it sets out a plan to expand its member base throughout the provinces and across demographics, implement social responsibility initiatives and thus increase access to and participation in the sport throughout the country.

In addition, the Development Plan envisions contributing towards national and international priorities for development through sport using Wushu as a tool. This includes the areas of child and youth development, health and the curbing of gender-based violence. The growth of Wushu in South Africa – and the subsequent increase in access to the sport - will naturally and of itself open up opportunities for drawing up specific programmes.

The SA Wushu Federation is currently running development programmes in Mpumalanga, Limpopo, North West, Yeoville, Hillbrow, Atteridgeville, Mabopane, Gauteng and Kwa-Zulu Natal.
